1. This week's song was chosen because it's something of an anthem in
Chicagoland around St. Patrick's Day. Can you name another song that
makes you think of St. Patrick's Day or Ireland? My very Irish mom used ting me "Wild Irish Rose", so I'll go with that...
2.
The Irish Choir sings that the "craic" is always best among the Windy
City Irish. "Craic" is Irish for "fun" and "high spirits." Are you
planning anything fun this weekend? Friday, my granddaughter has a play. I'm free after that if anyone's interested.I am sure the invites will fucking be coming now.
3. They tell us that their fathers came over from Mayo, Cork and Donegal. Where did your ancestors hail from? My mom and her side are 100% Irish. My dad ancestry is Easter European Jewish. I never cared about ancestry. Only money or sex grab my humble attention...
4.
The lyrics mention the rivalry between Chicago's two baseball teams. As
Spring Training 2025 draws to a close, how do you feel about your
baseball team's chances this season? I do not have to remind you that unless you sare a Dodger fan the outlook is bleak. I was all in for the Yanks before Cole needed Tommy John and Stanton and DJ have injuries. Unless they hang in until the deadline and get reinforcement. That said I will watch every game, win or lose.
5.
The Chicago River is dyed green in celebration of St. Patrick's Day.
Does your community do anything to special for the holiday? Nah,
we keep it simple—just the usual. Here in Phoenix we start by
placing all fire hydrants with kegs, letting the squirrels run the
parade, and offering free citizenship to anyone who can perfectly
recite an Irish limerick while holding a Guinness on their head.
Nothing too crazy, We also dye the tap water green, replace all
traffic lights with shamrocks, and make leprechauns the official law
enforcement for the day. If you don’t wear green, you're legally
required to river dance your way out of town. It’s a whole thing.
6.
While this week's song focuses on the Irish population of Chicago, it's
not the U.S. city with the highest percentage of citizens of Irish
ancestry. According to the 2020 census, Boston is #1. Have you ever been
to Boston? Boston is my favorite city. I lived on Beacon Street for 4 years, then years later i worked boston, but had a home in Framingham. Now in Phoenix...
7. On Monday, which is St. Patrick's Day, do you plan to wear green? If out my green blazer. If not, my green Hartford Whalers Jersey...
8. Clovers are a recognized symbol of St. Patrick's Day, and a four-leaf clover is believed to bring good luck. Have you ever seen a four-leaf clover? Yes. We had nothing to but look at fucking clover in search of the holy grail...
9. Black coffee with whiskey and whipped cream is Irish Coffee. What's your standard coffee order? Drinkwise, it's Grand Marnier & Baileys.
Hope you're well. If All goes right. I'll be back for Stealing...
