War Is Over (If You Want It)

Only right at the holiday. I find it putrid when I start hearing them in retail outlets in October.

3. What magazines do you have subscriptions to?
None. I get all my news from the weather report.

4. What is your favorite scent? Napalm in the morning.

5. Do you give money to charity?
I thought that all you need is love.

6. What is your theme song?
In the very first year of WTIT, I used “Goldfinger” with my own lyrics. When Gypsy Joe started calling it “Budfinger” I stopped.

7. What's in your wallet? This meme is brought to you by Capital One.

8. Do you generally think before you act, or act before you think? I think.

9. Is there anything that has made you unhappy these days? Only the dark blue lettering on Sunday Stealing. It helps when you can read the questions.

10. Do you have a good body-image? I have a great body for a 261 year-old guy.

11. How are you spending your holidays? Today Kathy and I host kids and grandkids. It's my dad's 87th birthday. He'll be be here with my sisters and their spouses. My sister Amy just had twins. I'll meet them for the first time. I'll see my 89 year old mother and my 88 year old aunt tomorrow...

Running With Lions

Who is your favorite artist (Any field.): The Beatles.

Describe yourself: I am the Walrus. Coo, coo ca fucking choo.

How do you feel today: With my hands, mostly.

Describe the area where you currently live: Our home has a nearly 300 square foot state park. A cocktail on the deck together is awesome.

If you could go anywhere, where would you go? I’d love to see the Serengeti in Africa. There are not of films (or TV shows) on animals that I don’t watch.

Your favorite form of transportation: Das auto. Although, I do drive a Chevy.

Your best friend is: I have several. Johnnie Walker and I have been friends since high school. Rock Rolling I met in the early 80s. Harvey & I go back to the early 90s.

You and your best friends are: WTIT DJs, duh.

What's the weather like: We are freezing our asses off.

Favorite time of day: 3:33 PM. It when we got married.

If your life was a TV show, what would it be called: My Friend Flicka. I’d play the horse.

What is life to you: This type of question may be why I never used this fucker.

Your relationship: Married and happy with Kathy.
Your fear: I used to worry whether WTIT would go on. There were several years when we didn’t tape at all. This year we recorded about four times. Which for me is about right. If we lived closer, monthly or weekly might work, but Johnnie is two hours away and Rock is about 45 minutes from here. Midnight, (who returned after a 17 year hiatus) lives about 20 minutes away. But top the point, I don’t fear us stopping anymore. It’s been 45 years. If we stopped now, I’d say we had a great run.
What is the best advice you have to give: Only get angry with another driver if he/she is doing something that you’ve NEVER done. It eliminates road rage.

Thought for the Day: Bud’s Law #13: How long a minute is depends on which side of the bathroom door you are.

How would you categorize your soul's present condition: Rubber.

Gotta rock 'n roll. Love somebody...

Viva Lost Wages

From top left: My brother Mark & wife Kathy, My sons James & Ben and his wife Maria, Daughter Heather and husband Alec holding 3 year old granddaughter Lindsay, sister Amy & husband Mike, sister Diane and wife Courtenay. Seated from left: Mom, me, granddaughter Lauren, my wife Kathy and my dad.

1) Do you ever suffer the blues during the holidays? The holidays have changed. My mom’s family has had a Christmas Eve party since 1910 or so. It was so much easier for them. Family married and said in the town they grew up in. By the time my generation had kids, my brother Mark lived in Boston with his family. He stopped coming so his kids could wake up on Christmas morning in their own beds. His family returned when they were all over 18.

My daughter and her family stopped for the same reason a few years back. They live near Rutgers in Jersey. One of my son’s lives single in San Diego. My other son just had a daughter and was conflicted since he lives near Providence. About 10 years ago I started hosting a pre-Christmas Eve party before the “big one” at my mom’s. A few years back we switched it to a January date as my kids dropped out of Christmas Eve.

This year my sister Diane, who took over the party about five ears ago when my mom moved in with her, has decided to end it. While it seems a shame to end a family tradition that lasted over a hundred years, it was time. All we saw there were cousins and their kids, who we love, but are not at all close to. Diane will host a small party for my mom, aunt (88 & 89) and a cousin or two.

Meanwhile, my party has moved to December 23rd, my dad’s 87th birthday and will be well attended. My daughter Heather and her family and my son Ben and his family will be there. My dad and my sister Amy who just had twins, and my dad are coming, as are my sister Diane and her wife. So, I guess the party switched here. I am REALLY psyched. Not that anything about all this has anything to do with the question. I just thought I’d share.

2) More than 18 million visitors have toured Elvis' home, Graceland. Have you ever been there? No.
3) Elvis dyed his naturally light brown locks black. Do you dye your hair? My hair is dark brown. Recently, as some gray has crept in I occasional remove it.
4) He also insisted his young girlfriend, Priscilla, dye her hair jet black. If your lover asked you to change your hair, would you? Kathy and I asked each to wear our hair longer, which we now do.

5) Elvis served his country at an Army base in Friedberg, Germany. Have you ever been to Germany? Nein.

6) Elvis famously had an affair with Ann-Margaret during the filming of Viva Las Vegas. Have you ever indulged in a dalliance with a coworker? Yes, and it was a huge mistake. Once we broke up, the tension was unbelievable. She even made me destroy that video we made. Bitch.
7) Thinking of his movies ... Elvis was, by and large, unhappy with his film career and once said, "The only thing worse than watching a bad movie is being in one." Are you happy with the way your career is going/has gone? I miss radio. I’d love to do a show again. Fortunately, with WTIT recording more frequently, it scratches the itch. Rock Rolling, seen in this picture phoned yesterday to set up a recording date before Christmas. My actual job is about perfect for me.
WTIT 2012: Cos, Gary, Rock, Bud, Johnnie & Midnight
8) Elvis lost "the battle of the bulge" toward end of his life. Are you happy with your weight? I’m about ten pounds from where I’d like to be. But my doc says I really only need to lose five. I guess that means I’m pretty good.

9) As a teenager, Elvis worked as an usher at a movie theater. What was your first job?
My first job of any consequence was working at one of my dad’s hotels. Years later we owned one together.

We may return, until then Give Peace a Chance.

Time to Move On

Sunday Stealing: The Not So Manly Meme

I tried to post a guy wearing something.

1. Boxers? Briefs? Boxer briefs? Thongs? Bikinis? Commando? You are right. No “manly” meme starts with a question that anyone but your wife cares about. I don’t think even she cares all that much. She might tell me when to buy some new ones.

2. What’s your fussiest personal care routine? Flossing.

3. Do you have a favorite tool? Power or manual? Another brilliant question. If the answer (and it is) to the first part is “no”, then what shall we do with the second part?

 4. Can you change your own oil? Do you? Not even in the frying pan. Wait. Upon further review, we could do that. It’s the cooking part with the oil that’s tough.

5. What’s the “manliest / 'womenliest” thing you do on a regular basis? Shave.

6. What’s something “manly” that you never learned how to do? Apparently using a power tool. It is obvious CV Rick was an expert on this shit.

7. Do you ever cry? If so, what’s your trigger? Yes.The trigger is sad shit happening.

8. Do you have a chivalrous streak? How does it manifest itself? I randomly throw coats on puddles and yell, “To Sir Walter, whoever the fuck you were!!”

9. Do you have a chauvinistic streak? How does it manifest itself? I watch my Patriots, UConn men and Yankees.

10. What’s your favorite movie? I refuse to ever answer this question again. I'll from here forth go with "latest". Last night Kathy and I watched Flatliners on my new Roku device. If you don’t have one yet, you will.

11. What’s the dumbest, testosterone-inspired thing you’ve ever seen? Wrestling.

12. What quality do you think makes a good man good? Do you have that quality? Compassion and yes, I believe I do.

13. Toilet seat up or down? Really? This is Stealing after all.

14. If your significant other is away, do you cook for yourself or eat out of cans and boxes (or rely on local drive-throughs and delivery)? I spend my days switching the oil in my fucking frying pan. I even can change it.

15. What societal expectation of being a man / women do you most resent? I don't worry about anyone's expectations but my own.

16. What’s the best part - societal-wise - about being a man / women? Shaving.

17. Will you stop to ask for directions? I checked. This question was written before the invention of GPS.

18. What’s one thing about your significant other that you just cannot understand, no matter how hard you try? I've been married less than two months. I think that makes this the perfect time to start fucking complaining.

19. What do you need to have in the shower? Soap & shampoo. I hope this all stops soon.

20. Do you burp/fart/scratch? Do you do anything stereotypically male? Wow.

Time to move on. See you if I get back from the other side...

Wieją (Niszczyć) Mnie

1) Have you ever danced the polka?
I had a very serious lady in my life who was Polish. She stated that all I had to do for her to marry me was to learn the Polka. So, naturally I did not. I was so in love. I wonder what her name was?

2) Frankie Yankovic was a stellar accordion player. What instrument have you mastered, or would like to learn? A real one. I’d love to play the electric guitar ¼ as good as my son James.

 3) When Frankie died in 1998, his obituary proclaimed him as "America's Polka King." Lucille Ball was "The Queen of Comedy" and Michael Jackson was "The King of Pop." What royal title do you deserve? “He was named after ‘The King of Beers’”.
4) Do you like light beer? No. Did you that “The Hartford Courant” interviewed Kathy and me this week? They do a weekly feature on unusual “love stories”. O thought ours was same-oh. Boy meets girl. Awards girl “Foxy Lady of the Week” ten times at his nightclub. She was the one girl he didn’t sleep with. 30 years later, girl spends five years to find boy. Girl finds boy. Boy thinks, “Hey, maybe I can sleep with that one girl that I missed.” Boy marries girl because she fulfills him in a way he has never known. Then the newspaper calls. Keep tuned.

5) In 1901, daredevil Annie Taylor successfully went over Niagara Falls in a barrel. She was badly bruised but otherwise fine. How much money would it take for you do to do something that dangerous? $12,562,987.89. Not negotiable.

6) When was the last time you visited a pet store? How long is never?

7) What's your favorite salad dressing?
Bleu Cheese or Balsamic Vinaigrette. Sometimes both.

8)  Sam Winters is crazy about her smart phone. She uses it to take pictures, record videos, listen to tunes, answer emails and surf the net and, oh yeah, she even uses it to make calls. How indispensable is your mobile phone in your day-to-day life? All that and more, I watch TV shows and listen to radio shows from all over the country as I drive in my job. I love sports. When a great story is about a player or team in another city, I will listen to a local show from that city, as an example.
9) "Kocham cię" is "I love you" in Polish. Can you say "I love you" in a language other than English (and Polish)? Wieją (niszczyć) mnie. Which loosely means, “blow me” in Polish.

Is it true that “In Heaven There is No Beer” and that’s why we drink it here? How about Smirnoff? See you out there...
